Flock and Gaggle

A young woman looking up at a wall inside a shop called Flock and Gaggle, on the wall is lots of independent artists work

Flock and Gaggle was born from the Connecting Columns project in MediaCityUK

Local artist Fernandes Makes celebrates the wildlife and nature of the Salford Quays and the joys of green spaces

The Connecting Columns was a large scale project hand painting 15 individual 20 feet high columns by Fernandes Makes in Quayside shopping centre

A collaborative project between Quayside MediaCityUK and Islington Mill bringing a splash of colour and fun into one of Manchester’s iconic shopping centres

Inspired by the shapes of the surrounding buildings and the wildlife spotted by Nicola Fernandes in her walks to Quayside in lockdown, she aims to create immersive, fun and quirky paintings for adults and children to enjoy and connect.

Keeping with the bird theme Nicola created the pop up shop Flock and Gaggle -

'flock' meaning birds together in the sky and 'gaggle' referring to birds together on the ground

The name comes from togetherness and being a community

From the connecting columns to Flock and Gaggle an independent gift shop located on the first floor of Quayside MediaCityUK selling work from over 40 different independent makers, creators and artists from the local area and beyond

Open Wednesday to Sunday every week

Address: Flock and Gaggle, Quayside, The Quays, M50 3AH
